Luenen, Germany: (World View Media, AFP)
It took a total of 420 kilos of explosives to demolish the three main structures of an old power plant in the German town of Luenen on Sunday (March 28).
Once a profitable producer of traction current, among other things, the 37-hectare powerplant was acquired by Hagedorn Group at the end of 2019, which aims to clear the area and allow new companies to settle in.
According to the construction company, over 40 large excavators will be used to do so – among them the largest demolition excavator in Germany and the process will probably last until the end of the year.
Thousands of people watched the demolition online.
